Hong Kong – BIR

IMG_1677

Taurus and Newel Recycling Equipment were present to the BIR 2017 edition. During the 3 days exhibition has been outlined the current market situation.

The strong stainless steel production recorded in the first quarter of the year has allowed increased demand for scrap at attractive prices, possibly also due to an increase in the cost of nickel and chrome. Unfortunately this trend ended in March with a negative situation that could last till summer and improve in the second part of the year.
Among the novelties introduced in this edition of BIR we cannot forget the appointment of a new general manager, Mr. Arnaud Brunet, which happens to Mr. Delacoux, the nomination was made known by the president of the Bureau Mr. Baxi who also announced the first global recycling day. March 18, 2018 will be an appointment, according to the president, designed to raise the awareness of the world population on recycling matters. this important date will be marked by appointments aimed at involving, educating and informing current and future generations about the environment and its needs in order to live in a cleaner and more sustainable world today and tomorrow.

Week: 15th May, The economic trend of ferrous and non-ferrous metals

We have translated and adapted the weekly technical analysis taken from the website www.cell-data.it.

Context:

Emmanuel Macron, leader of the political party “En Marche” has won the French presidential election thanks to securing 65.5% of all votes cast! He comfortably won the ballot against Marine Le Pen, becoming the eighth and youngest president of France. It is hoped that his reformist agenda will kick start economic growth within France and spur a higher demand for consumer products and infrastructure projects.

According to a speech made recently by Mario Draghi, the current president of the European Central Bank (ECB) at the house of representatives in the Netherlands, the benefits of the current ECB monetary policy outweigh any negative effects.

The latest Economic data released from China: China´s trade balance showed a surplus of $ 38.05 billion in April, up from $ 23.33 billion in the previous month and above analysts’ expectations of $ 35.20 billion. Exports rose 8% compared to April 2016 (consensus + 11.3%), while imports rose by 11.9% against the expected 18%. Inflation reached 1.2% year-on-year in April, rising from the previous year’s 0.9%, which was more than expected.

In Japan, the trade balance for March showed a surplus of 865.5 billion yen, down from from a 1.076.8 billion surplus the previous month which was higher than the 855 billion yen expectated by analysts. March is the end of the fiscal year in Japan.

Metal Market Analysis May 15th, 2017

Copper:

Copper in € yields a gain of + 0.6%, while in $ is slightly varied

Primary aluminum

Falling prices in both € and $, down from 1.42% and 0.62%

Secondary aluminum

Slight falls in value for secondary aluminum, with the $ value down 1.19% while the € value recorded a slight gain in values of 0.40%.

Iron Analysis May 15th, 2017

Iron in Italy

The value of iron has stopped its descent, remaining stable on minimum levels traded. Ferrous scrap values also remained firm. From the current economic outlook, a bounce of the value of iron is possible, but if higher quantities of scrap are traded then new iron values could be in line for a correction of up to -20%.

International Iron

Iron prices remain stable, as do scrap prices. Most yields lie at around -2%. The gap between the long-term difference of iron and scrap prices remains unchanged, and if there is a rise in the price of iron ore in the coming days, then this may not reflect automatically on scrap prices.

Maintenance and general operation of TAURUS shears and balers

TAURUS shears and balers are designed and manufactured to minimize maintenance requirements. TAURUS shear balers are largely manufactured in house using the latest manufacturing technologies and experience gained from over 50 years of building the worlds best shears and balers.
The TAURUS factory uses state of the art precision tools and CNC machinery with the latest engineering techniques to improve the quality of coupling and to avoid secondary modifications during the assembling process which could otherwise lead to weak points.
One example of a preventative feature incorporated on TAURUS shears is the automatic lubrication system which continuously provides lubricating grease to the shear head. The operator needs to keep an eye on the grease reservoir located at the rear of the shear and to top this up on a regular basis. Rotating or replacing warn blades and ensuring that the clearance between the moving and static blades is kept within the prescribed tolerances will not only guarantee maximum production rates but will also significantly increase the working life of the shear.
Effective and regular maintenance is a key point to keeping a TAURUS shear running efficiently and trouble free for many years. After installing a newly purchased shear or baler the machine is assembled and thoroughly tested in our factory before it is given our seal of approval and sent to the customer. After the onsite instillation our own in-house technicians again thoroughly test the shear or baler and make the adjustments required for each individual customers unique requirements. The customer then receives a thorough training on the proper use and maintenance of their machine.
All Taurus customers are invited to our factory for a further preventative maintenance and consumable parts replacement course. This informative course will teach the customer the finer points of blade rotation, proper greasing techniques and what to look out for when checking wear and tear parts for replacement. Customers who complete the course will have a thorough understanding of their machine and will be able to effectively perform maintenance tasks, which will prevent unscheduled downtime and extend the life of their machine for many extra years.

Taurus says thanks to all Recycling Aktive visitors

IUT Beyeler, our distributor for German speaking countries, Poland and Russia, together with Mr Raimund Krakovski and Mr Paul Paraniewski, recently took part in the very successfully Recycling Active trade fair in Baden Baden, Germany.
Recycling Aktive is a somewhat different exhibition dedicated to the recycling industry which is mainly held outdoors and specializes in providing visitors with lots of hands on demonstrations. Every year the number of visitors has increased, this year there were over 7,500 special interest visitors and more than 600 representatives from 202 exhibiting companies. The area available to exhibitors and participants was an impressive 76,500 square meters.
What makes Recycling Aktive so special is the fact that participants get the chance to see all of the recycling machinery and equipment working in real live demonstrations. IUT Beyeler demonstrated an ACL500 TAURUS transportable shear baler, the ACL 500 uses a diesel motor, has a 6 meter compression box with two compression cylinders per wing and uses 500 tons of cutting force. It has been fully refurbished by Mr Krakovski and Mr Paraniewski who have many years of experience turning used TAURUS shears and balers back to an “as new” condition.
The large number of exhibitors, especially the presence of decision-makers has more than met Peter Beyeler’s expectations. IUT Beyeler has been a successful TAURUS distributor for over 30 years.
If you did not get a chance to attend Recycling Aktiv this year, be sure to earmark your visit for the next show in September 2019. See you there!

A new design detail for a new shear baler

We are pleased to write about the second shear baler installed in Finland this year.

The model is a TAURUS BLULINE ACH873. Electric: with 800 tons of cutting force, a 7200 mm long compression box which utilizes 3 hydraulic cylinders for each compacting wing.
This new shear baler incorporates our latest design feature which is a protective structure assembled over the shear head and alongside the steelwork platform. The shear head covers protect the hydraulic pipes, shear and clamp cylinders; while the shear head side covers protect the lubrication system and the eccentric pins. Further covers along the steelwork platform protect the hydraulic pipes from damage.
The covers are solidly constructed of 10 mm thick iron sheets and supported by a durable tubular frame over both the lateral crankcase and the shear head to provide outstanding protection from falling scrap or accidental knocks.
The protective plates are designed to allow full access to the parts they protect in case of maintenance or repair. The steel plates are hinged on to the frame to allow easy access to the hydraulic cylinders, connecting flanges, pipes, eccentric pins and automatic greasing system.
The covers on the shear head and alongside the steal base frame are removable incase larger repair or maintenance jobs are required.
Our customer requested these extra protective features to protect the shears components from accidents such as falling scrap, collision with the excavator and/or excavator grab and even unfavorable weather conditions.
Conceived by our customer but designed and implemented by our engineers, the extra protection with full access for maintenance is now an option that all Taurus customers can enjoy.
