A TRULY EXCEPTIONAL TRANSPORTATION

WhatsApp Image 2019-09-06 at 10.44.11(1)

Yesterday morning a TAURUS BLULINE ARH 117 baler and shear was shipped to our customer. Planning the transportation of the equipment was not straight forward. The baler and shear in question was heavy, voluminous and the scrap yard where it was to be located required special attention and a savvy understanding of transportation with exceptional vehicles. Once on the motorway, the machine had to enter the village, crossing the railway and a bridge whose size did not allow the passage of exceptional vehicles. For this reason, the transport was organized well in advance, special permits were requested and several inspections were carried out with the TRANSPORTER and CRANE DRIVER team. The machine was unloaded near the bridge, then it was lifted and carried for 400 meters with a crane to the customers site. The success of this transport was a result of a great team work and collaboration between the transportation providers and TAURUS.

6 steps that increase the life cycle of your shear

tecnico-per-manutenzione

Routine maintenance, also known as ordinary maintenance or preventative maintenance, effectively managed on shear balers ensures the smooth running of the machine. It, further, allows to identify and/or predict any components that may require replacement, therefore, avoiding potential downtime as a result of a component failure.

But what are the maintenance operations that need to be performed? How often do inspections need to be carried out?  What should I check to ensure smooth running of the shear and baler and consequently a longer service life?

TAURUS details routine maintenance operations and routine inspections as daily, weekly, monthly and for certain components, on an hourly basis.

Daily Maintenance and Daily Inspections covers six simple tasks that, if carried out regularly, will allow you to increase the useful life of your TAURUS shear and baler.

  • Lubrification System: Inspect and check the correct lubrication of the hinges, the lid hinges, the clamp, the shear, the rod and the flanges cylinders lids.
  • Hydraulic Oil System: Inspect for oil leaks in the hydraulic power station, the pipes, the fittings, the hoses, the flanges, the valves and cylinders. Make sure that any screws and fittings are well tightened.
  • Oil Level: Check oil level in the hydraulic tank, in case of low level, top up utilizing the same oil.
  • Cylinder Anchorage Section: Inspect for dust, dirt, scrap and impurities of any kind that may prevent the correct operation of the cylinders. Check that the return seat of the feed cylinder is free of any material and remove any objects/material that may obstruct and wear the rod.
  • Security & Safety Measures: Check the correct functioning of the limit switches and emergency stop buttons.
  • Electrical Elements: Visual inspection of electric cables and electrical conductors.

FINLAND ACS 873 – A TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED SHEAR BALER

XXWX5016

A new TAURUS BLULINE ACS873 electric shear baler has been tested this week in FINLAND. A machine that has certain technical features, such as: cutting force 800 tons, box length 7200 mm with 40 mm hardox on the inner surfaces of the lids in direct contact with the material to be processed; over stroke on both lids and n. 2 electric motors from KW 132 (each). Our customer also needed a remote control that presented customized settings such as cutting length.

The new generation of TAURUS shear baler has the remote control functions  programmed and configured according to customer needs with the following settings all possible remotely: cutting length setting, multiple compression setting modes (high, medium or low level) and remote pre-compression functionality. Preset programs mean that many functions such as pre compression, compression and cutting cycles now work autonomously from the operator. Labor costs can be reduced by 50% as there is no need for an independent shear operator.

The touch screen or control panel allows you to schedule maintenance stops in a timely manner to reduce down time. Although there are many preset programs the operator can intervene at any time to fine tune the working parameters for optimal performance. The control panel constantly monitors and optimizes the compression and cutting process for higher production rates. Taurus´s many years of hands on experience with our customers has allowed us to preset different automated programs depending on the type of material being processed. Individual programs such as shear stroke setting, partial cut rate, pre-compression setting, relative and actual cycle timing can all be selected simply by pressing a button.

Finally, the Remote Service System (RSS) allows the after sales office to detect any abnormalities reported by the shear, which means they can intervene in a timely and effective manner to reduce down time. In most cases there is no need for a Taurus technician to travel to the customers yard. Special customer requests, fine tuning or program upgrades are now all done remotely.

FINLAND: Installation of a new TAURUS BLULINE shear baler ACS873

taurus

Installation of a new TAURUS BLULINE shear baler ACS873
“Taurus just installed their latest shear baler in Kauhajoki, Finland; the model is an ACS873 ED4L. This is their second shear baler, the first is a CL663 which they bought in 2004. The CL is still going very strong but due to expansion within their company they needed a newer larger shear to keep up with all the extra work. The new ACS873 is equipped with 4 X 75 kw motors, has 800 tons of shear force and is fitted with a loading hopper, operator’s cabin, remote control.
Our costumer opted for the full protection kit over the shear head and like all Taurus shear balers this one comes with its own base frame, laser guided economizer on the shear head for more output and remote servicing.”

AUSTRIA: A BIBLO baler BB 44 TAURUS BLACKLINE has just been installed

biblo bb 44

We announced it a few weeks ago and are now glad to confirm that yesterday a new Biblo BB44 baler was commissioned in north Austria.
The squeeze box of a BIBLO baler consists in an “L” shaped fixed base and an independently folding wing and lid. The lid provides an over stroke with maximum compression force which reduces the pre-compression cycle time and generates an offset square bale. The squeeze box and the internal lid surfaces are in Hardox wear resistant steel coated and foresees other ingenious features to minimize wear and vibrations. It’s important to underline that an increased capacity baler was tailor-made to reflect Client requirements. This allows for faster processing times and thus an increased work rate. In fact, an electric motor of 110 KW with a double pump, double distribution panel and a larger oil tank were fitted. This BIBLO BB 44 equipped as described, is able to reduce the production and ejection times of bales with dimensions of 400 x 400 mm and density of kg/mc > 1200.
However, that’s not all… our BIBLO is also equipped with a proximity system on the feeding cylinder, a heating system, a remote diagnostics system directly connected to the operational headquarters and, of course, the remote control.
The BIBLO BB 44 can be described as compact yet powerful.

AUSTRALIA: A NEW YEAR’S WITHOUT “EXPLOSIONS”

2 ok

A year start to remember for our Australian customer, in fact, the pre-shredder machine REDLINE BRAVO B16H has been recently tested and put into operation. Our customer in Sydney tuned to TAURUS as they required a machine to feed their hammer mill evenly and continuously. The B16H placed ahead of the shredder allows to eliminate explosions in the grinding chamber, reduces energy consumptions, avoids the presence of absorption peaks and increases the life of the wear plates, grids and hammers. Our costumer requested a machine that could process high density scrap bales,  further meet certain production requirements and a special iron structure to protect the machine from accidental fall of scrap, a cover able to protect gear reducers, hydraulic motors and the hydraulic power unit. The TAURUS team analysed the requirements and designed and manufactured the largest B16H machine ever built in C.E G. to date.
